Viki’s research explores digital spaces and online communities to uncover the communicative processes and technologies that enable organizational transformation and social change.
Inspired by the empirical phenomena witnessed over two decades as a communications consultant, she brings to her research substantive and theoretical interests at the intersection of the sociology of storytelling, organization studies, and political communication.
Non-Profit and Higher Ed Communications
As an experienced higher education leader, Viki brings to her work a deep understanding of and passion for helping academic institutions rewire public discourses and create new connections that drive social impact. Higher education leaders stand at the nexus of public, private, and non-profit arenas. From this position, they are poised to facilitate the kind of cross-sector collaboration and partnership that is crucial to tackling some of the world’s most complex problems in a fiercely fractured world. Viki’s work helps academic institutions harness this leadership potential to discover and demonstrate through communications the new social value of higher education as universities look to reimagine the future.
Corporate Communications
Having worked in Chicago, New York, and London as a senior vice president for the PR agency, Edelman, Viki has extensive experience in communications and brand positioning for Fortune 500 and non-profit organizations across a wide range of sectors including financial services, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, retail, and education. While at Edelman, she led major corporate brand-building campaigns and reputation management initiatives for GE Capital, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, CME Group, and SC Johnson, among others.
